COMPACT DISCS

(Last update: 07/05/2023)

(DD/MM/YYYY sorry for being british)

so you've stumbled upon my music collection

streaming is shit, vinyl is overrated

(not that i don't buy it)

the CD pilf shall grow eternal

LEMON DEMON

(THE ONE THAT STARTED THIS AND I CARRY ON OUT OF OBLIGATION)

so this dude neil cicierega who i think made like 80% of the internet was the first time remember actually like, giving a shit about music. past youtube recs of classic 80s stuff and shit-ass radio hits i guess

naturally my existing propensity for spending too much on physical videogames bled over and my life was forever ruined

Spirit Phone (2016, pressing from 2018)

this album still fuckin rips harddd bro this was like THE autism album for me in 2019

i really gotta relisten to it

they've done like three pressing now i think but this is the first. basically all they did was change some labelling though

they did eventually do some sick ass PS1 dye stuff in the newest ones which is a little tempting but whatev

god i'm gonna have to stop myself from buying another fucking copy

oh yeah also i have two copies of the booklet cause they misprinted some around the time i bought mine and just started throwing in doubles to make up for it. both of mine were fine so i just have two

Nature Tapes EP (2014, pressing from 2019)

oh god it's so scuffed and dirty i fuckin hate digipaks!!!

next one up, first one i was on board to preorder

this EP's solid enough, i know some people who don't like it but it's fine imo

too bad they absolutely 100% grade-A FUCKED the mastering on this. shit sounds like what flat mcdonalds sprite tastes like fuck outta here

the newest master's a bit better but honestly the OG is still the best. and i'm not rebuying this shit

big ups to the gamefaqs ass comic sans lyric booklet though

and u know i gotta respect hiding a bonus track in the pregap too

View-Monster (2008, pressing from 2020)

i just keep grabbing these as they come out

"why are you going chronologically backwards" oh buddy we'll get to that

the mastering in this one's trash man shit is blown out and clipping constantly

i hope they repressed the CD at some point shit sucks man

the very comprehensive tracklist on disc 2 is nice though, a lot of the bonus tracks got cut on bandcamp for whatever reason but this's gottem all

also i don't have the big fancy zoetrope vinyl variant so it's just a shit ass blurry print in the booklet but aimkid getting some official recognition is swag

Dinosaurchestra (2006, pressing from 2022)

aw hell yea i love this album

GGs on needlejuice for unfucking it. finally switched to a normal jewelcase

also sacked whoever the hell was mastering the other ones so this one sounds actually good in comparison

disc 2 looking like the CD-R on the cover is really cute also

and finally hearing the bonus tracks lossless was really nice

Dinosaurchestra (2006, pressing from... 2006)

oh jesus fuck now we're getting into the soup

so basically all of these up to nature tapes had an original small-scale release done when the actual albums came out. they've all become kinda stupid rare and annoying to find, but i'm very normal so i spent maybe a little too much on getting this one

and i bet you i'll never get the rest cause the rereleases poisoned ebay search results. fuck me ig

multiple releases of the same album is kind of a theme here

and that's it for lemon demon till i get my shit together and finally buy damn skippy it's been out for months fuck

THE AVALANCHES

(GOD I FUCKING HATE PAD SYNTHS)

oh god we're straight into the deep end again

dino was basically a rerelease/remaster type deal so it wasn't like THAT complicated but

these dudes whole thing is sampling other songs and man copyright fuckin sucks shit and dick and balls and cock

they figure it out behind the scenes now and clear all their new stuff beforehand so it doesn't matter but man they fucked around and found out the first time

Since I Left You

oh god

so first up lemme get this out the way this album fuckin RIPS man this shit kicks so much ass this is masterpiece level shit

but i suck its dick enough so

they kinda just slapped this shit together without even keeping track of what they were sampling and then just PUT that shit out there in australia

i respect the hustle but whoops it actually got really popular and they had to put it out worldwide and. Sample Clearance Incident

so while they did a first pass and cut like one sample the original australian CD is full of unlicenced shit

but then they put that shit out everywhere else and just. gradually butchered stuff with some piss-poor editing

there's a bunch of really noticeable splices. btw every time they cut an unlicenced sample it still snuck in faintly somewhere. every single time i'm deadass

also they fucked with like, the most famous single on the album but only for like three pressings and then went back?? but the vinyl never did??? except for the two pressing where it??? did???

AND THEN YOU FIND OUT THERE'S A PROMOTIONAL CD RIPPED ON THE INTERNET WITH EVERY SAMPLE AND A CUT TRACK?????????

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON

so i've been wading thru the sample spaghetti buying copies. my first listen was the promo version so if i hear extra kings without the flute i'll combust instantly

so here's what i've got:

Since I Left You (2000, Deluxe rerelease CD pressing from 2021)

picked this up when it was new bc i had just started suckin this album's schlong but it was kinda disappointing as hell

the usual fucked retail version, plus stupid looking paint splatter edit over one of my favourite album covers, plus a really mid bonus disc full of bad vinyl rips of old promo remixes (that usually had promo CDs so. what)

thus begins the spaghetti

Since I Left You (2000, third pressing from 2000))

so i spend way too long researching on discogs learning pressing numbers and then ebay shows me what i think i'm looking for

aussie copy, MODCD009, this is that good good, right, first australian pressing

it was cheap and nearby so i nabbed it, EZ

so i get it in and i skip to extra kings and what the fuck

those FUCKING PAD SYNTHS

so as it turns out, they did three pressings under that catalogue number. they put out the good version twice, then did an early release of the international version with the same catalogue number because these people are fucking evil

and because it's so early in the fucked version lifespan IT HAS BAD FRONTIER PSYCHIATRIST I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT WAS ON CD AT ANY POINT YET FUCK

back to tha ebay grind (there are some minor visual differences i learned after the fact thankfully)

Since I Left You (2000, first pressing from 2000)

i spent £30~ on this fucking thing

this is it luigi. all the funny samples. except "younger than springtime" cuz first pass moment

but now i own three copies of this fucking album, and i don't know what to do with my life

and i'm not even done man. sometimes i still search for promos, or that weird scandinavian copy that snuck out with younger than springtime

i can never leave [hotel california solo]

Wildflower (2016, pressing from 2016)

okay back to normal shit

don't worry about the 16 year gap they kinda had a whole moment

they went way more guest-rapper focused hip-hop styled in this one, i think they did it well though

i did manage to "luck out" with the one pressing that has categorically worst CD case i've ever owned

you just kinda have to grab the edge of the disc and pull it out. you basically have to touch the data side

imagine sucking vinyl's dick so hard you make categorically the worst method for storing a CD. you people need to be stopped

also they say troll in live a lifetime love from wildflower

We Will Always Love You (2020, pressing from 2020)

shoutouts to the reflection of my phone and all the sticker residue because those fucks put the hype sticker right on the case

hey yeah i don't like this album [ducks glass bottle which smashes on the wall behind me]

they kinda vaselined the seperation between sample and original in this one and i don't think that's a good thing

it doesn't like. totally suck. this just isn't what i like about the avalanches

also the one time i'll give the vinyl the W cause the mastering's way better

i do like using a transparent jewelcase for a little extra design though. always appreciated

there's a lot of weird shit in these guys releases but i don't own any of it (yet) so moving on

CARDIACS

(THERE'S NO "THE" IT'S JUST CARDIACS)

whoops i followed one of my rabbit holes and got really autistic again

these guys are maybe possibly probably the best band ever. i'm just saying

so i've been building their stuff up naturally

all of this got delisted on spotify lmfao streaming users stay losing

Cardiacs - A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window (1988, pressing assumedly from 2013)

and so it begins

first album i listened to by these guys, basically the shallow end to dip your toes into. anyways it bowled me over so hard i went on the official webstore and bought it immediately

THAT'S THE WAY WE ALL GO

Cardiacs - Sing to God Part One and Sing to God Part Two (1996, pressing from 1996)

please ignore the drop in image quality it's 11pm and i'm rushing

this is actually the best album ever made i think

i spent like £40 buying these seperate releases on ebay because of how long it was out of stock and then the official site got stock IMMEDIATELY after fucking lmao

if you're reading this i demand you listen to it right now here go shoo i'm doing the video essay thing where i tell you to do an entire thing and come back

Cardiacs - The Seaside (Original Edition) (1983, pressing from 2015)

album zero i guess. this was the weird space inbetween their two objective demo tapes and their first objective album (little man and a house)

the original tape's pretty rare bc it was mostly sold at gigs, i'd love to own one

something fucky happened with the master tapes so the 90s rerelease that was easiest to find for a long time was missing tracks (and just sounded like ASS)

but in 2015 they finally unfucked it and now there's a solid release

MISCELLANEOUS ALBUMS

okay that's all that over and done with. here's everything else. artists are grouped together still though

soundtracks get their own bit later so wait up

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Yellow Magic Orchestra USA & Yellow Magic Orchestra (1978/1979, pressing from 2003)

isn't that a hell of a title

man this album fucks hard

the title's screwy because they remixed this album when they first put it out in the west, and this release has both versions over 2 discs

the US version fuckin blows tho don't listen to it. thankfully the cover's reversible so i can keep the japanese cover facing out

also some slightly crap remastering. not the worst i've ever heard though

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor (1979, pressing from 2003)

THIS ALBUM FUCKS HARD BRO

same '03 set as the other one, it sounds fine enough. thankfully they skipped this album in the west cuz they were doing some beatles shit so by the time they canonized the japanese catalogue this was left unscathed

Weezer - Weezer [Blue] (1994, exact pressing date unknown)

the four horsemen of the apocalypse

auuuuuuuuuuuugh

this album's fine. just kinda decent. i like it

i went into it after hearing ppl talk it up for ages and. nah it's not THAT good it's just alright. kinda hated it for a bit

i mellowed out after giving it some space and also listening to pinkerton which actually rips i can't lie

i bought it for the meme out shopping because honestly i just needed to have that cover on the shelf man it's funny as hell

DEVO - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO! / DEVO Live (1978/1981, exact pressing date unknown)

i actually haven't listened thru any of this but it was the only one i could find while i was out shopping so fuck it man

these weird double-packs are the only easily accessible DEVO CDs here in the UK which is odd but at least they're mastered pretty good

DEVO - Hot Potatoes: The Best of DEVO (1993, exact pressing date unknown)

plus a pretty solid greatest-hits i found with the other DEVO CD

it's well-mastered, all's good. missing some songs i woulda liked but eh whatever

2 Mello - Memories of Tokyo-to (2018, pressing from 2018)

bought this album in the middle of my JSR phase and paid extra for the CD on a collector's whim

i haven't actually listened through it in years but i remember it being good

2 Mello - Sound of Tokyo-to Future (2021, pressing from 2021)

also solid. bit of a vibe change but it's for the better i think

basically the same CD-R pressing deal as memories

Michael Jackson - Number Ones (2001, pressing from 2009)

some random comp i grabbed in like 2017 when i went into HMV randomly

never actually looked into the deets on this until writing this but damn i wonder why they repressed a michael jackson compilation in '09

David Bowie - Legacy (2016, pressing from 2016)

another comp, this one very transparently being a posthumous thing trying to get a good range

solid tracks, i've been meaning to dive into bowie's discography someday

Sonic - Sonic The Hedgehog (1996, pressing from 1996)

ZOINKS SCOOB WHAT IN THE KENTUCKY FRIED FUCK IS THIS

okay so this is some weird old licenced vaguely promotional shit??? it has "They Call Me Sonic" which is that weird ass song you mightve heard on youtube in like 2006

it's just some random shit with one pressing out of germany. i bought it for dirt cheap for the meme years ago, and now it's like £30 on discogs

shoutouts to all the crusty german game demos on the data track this is PRIMO shit right here man that good good

Sonic - They Call Me Sonic [Single] (1996, pressing from 1996)

I BUY A LOT OF THINGS FOR THE MEME I BUY A WHOLE LOT OF THINGS FOR THE MEME

100 gecs - 10,000 gecs (2023, pressing from 2023)

after five million years gecs finally dropped again and. yeah it kicks ass man

i mean everyone else i know fuckin hated this shit but i thought it ripped hard

shoutouts to how batshit all the package design is btw. too lazy to get photos go on discogs lol

i passed up buying 1000 gecs on CD years ago when it was still the funny album du jour and i still fuckin regret it

buffcorrell - Correll's Picks Vol. 1 (2023, pressing from 2023)

words fail to describe the buffcorrell experience. just go on his youtube man it's a wonderful world out there

all of the stuff on here is just like. youtube MP3 downloaded videos put together but man. the fucking meme factor was so insanely worth it

also put this in your cd-rom drive and open half life 1 it's downright magical

Jamiroquai - High Times (Singles 1992-2006) (2006, pressing from 2006)

i haven't really dived into jamiroquai much but virtual insanity's been a long runner injoke with some friends and the recent resurgence of it prompted this impulse buy

there was nothing else at the record store man lol

SOUNDTRACKS

these get seperate categorization, it's not like listening to an entire OST in one go is. an ideal experience

Haruomi Hosono - Nokto de la Galaksia Fervojo

HEY I LIKE NIGHT ON THE GALACTIC RAILROAD COULD YOU TELL

almost like this entire site was themed around it or something

there's a whole bunch of cultural history and whatnot behind it but that's outside of my scope so just go watch the 1985 movie and go get really autistic

also this is one of the dudes from YMO! looping back to that

he did a good job, great score for a great movie

this was just hanging out for cheap at a random second-hand store as "like new" so i grabbed it and fuck man it was fac new what the hell

obi and everything. how did this get here

also i really like the white disc tray it's pretty unique

okay go watch the movie now please please pl

SEGA - Sonic Forces Original Soundtrack: A Hero Will Rise (2017, pressing from 2017)

okay i know i did that whole groan about weezer but this one feels very genuinely worse

long story short i ended up with fucked up stockholm syndrome with this game for a hot minute in 2017 until like a month after i played it when i realized there was fuck-all else to do and it sucked total ass

i sold the actual game but still have this as a reminder of my hubris

fuck this game

Anamanaguchi - Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game (Original Videogame Soundtrack) (2010, CD pressing from 2015)

very beloved soundtrack to a solid, if buggy as hell game

apparently they repressed this in the limited run release for the game's rerelease but this is the random 2015 lootbox one

it was fun to flex for that hot minute before they put the game back out. i still have it on my PSN account lol

Various - Pop Team Epic: All Time Best (2018, pressing from 2018)

pop team epic anime OST, i imported this when it dropped because i was keeping up hard with the first season

i kinda miss keeping up with it but also totally forgot to ever watch the specials or the second season that i think they did

i failed myself lol

Miyu Tomita, Mariya Ise - Deep in Abyss (2017, pressing from 2017)

OP to Made in Abyss, which i watched a million years ago and is the center of a million ancient injokes

bought this cheap on amazon to atone for my colouring book sins. i will not elaborate

this is basically christmas music by association

Various – Jet Set Radio Future Original Sound Tracks (2002, bootleg pressing from 2002)

ignore the cooked image i forgot it and had to rush it out

this soundtrack kicks ass and the game is also. Alright

this CD sounds fine but it's a bootleg, i got scooped, damn

Various - Evangelion Finally

neat little comp of various evangelion songs

the mastering blows a little but it's all the big famous eva songs on a pretty easy to find CD

AND THAT'S ALL FOLKSSSS

i spend way too long out at record stores buying random shit so i add stuff to this somewhat often. check back whenever

(also if you want any of these in FLAC/CUE/LOG pull up "moriohbrew" on soulseek and check my EAC rips folder! if i don't have something on here ripped and you need it then just message and ask and i'll try to get it done)
